Tarlton is a pretty and sleepy hamlet, off the beaten track but within ten minutes of the historic market towns of Cirencester and Tetbury. It is perfect for a Cotswold holiday - close to the heart of the scenic Cotswold region with major attractions like Stow, Chipping Camden and Burford and bigger destinations like Bath and Cheltenham all within about 40 minutes drive. Only slightly farther afield from your Cotswold cottageare Shakespeare's Stratford, Stonehenge, Blenheim Palace and the dreaming spires of Oxford. Asphodel Cottage is a perfect base to relax or explore.

Locally just a mile away via country path or dirt road is the local pub, the Tunnel House, originally built to house workers on the canal tunnel, whose 19th century classical entrance is adjacent. There are excellent gastro-pubs like The Bell at Sapperton, Trouble House Inn, Potting Shed (below) and Village Pub Barnsley all within just ten minutes drive. For special occasions like honeymoons there are critically acclaimed destinations like Barnsley House, Calcot Manor or The Rectory.

But you don't always need 'destinations'. One of the delights of this Cotswold holiday cottage is touring the picturesque country lanes and discovering picture postcard villages where the tourist buses never venture. Relax in the dog friendly garden of the village cafe or by the fire in the historic pub. All our local recommendations and secrets are revealed in your holiday cottage welcome guide.
